About our website
Here, you can read about how our website works and things that are important to you as a user.
Cookies
By law, everyone visiting a website which uses cookies must be informed that the website contains cookies, what they are used for and how you can refuse to accept them (the Swedish Act on electronic communication, SFS 2003:389, which entered into force on 25 July 2003). A cookie is a small text file which is stored on the visitor's computer and contains information. Cookies are normally used to improve the website experience for the visitor. There are two types of cookie:
- One type saves a file which is left behind on the visitor's computer. This file is used, for example, to make it easier for the visitor to use the website based on their preferences and interests.
- The other type is called a 'session cookie'. While a visitor is on a website, these cookies are temporarily stored in the memory of the visitor's computer. Session cookies disappear when the visitor closes their web browser. No personal details such as the e-mail address or name of the user are saved.
Both types of cookie are used on PRV's website. When you visit our website, a session cookie will be sent between your computer and PRV's web server in order to facilitate navigation, among other things. Session cookies are also used when you use our services online. The cookie will disappear when you end your visit.
If you as a visitor do not consent to the website using cookies, you can disable the function via your web browser's security settings. You can also set your web browser to warn you every time the website attempts to place a cookie on your computer. No cookies will then be saved, but you will also not be able to use some of the functions on the website.
General information concerning cookies and the new Act on electronic information can be found on the Swedish Post and Telecom Authority's website.

Web statistics analysis tool
PRV's website uses Google Analytics as a tool to get an idea of how visitors use the website. The analysis tool uses cookies and the information that is created when you surf the website. We use this data for the purpose of evaluating and improving our website from a customer perspective. For example, we use reports of visits to the website to improve content, navigation and structure.
We use Tag Manager Server located in our own network to filter out IP addresses and other properties, such as which browser visitors use or what size they are on the screen. Thereafter, the data is sent to Google Analytics, no personal data is transferred and all visits to the website are made anonymously.
You can deny the use of cookies by making your own settings in your browser.
The freedom of information principle
As a public authority, PRV is obliged to retain incoming documents if they are of importance for the work of the authority. Only in cases where it is clear that a message has ended up in the wrong place may the message be forwarded to the correct recipient. We will only use personal details that you provide in order to contact you.

Link policy
If you provide links to prv.se, we ask you to respect the following:
- PRV is concerned about websites which link to prv.se, as through these links PRV can be associated with the content of the website on which the link is placed.
- Do not use PRV's logo in order to link to prv.se. This will avoid any doubt as to who is responsible for the information on the website on which the link is placed.
- Specify the link to prv.se in a neutral way. Only use what are known as hypertext links, i.e. when the user clicks on the link, they are taken to PRV's web server.

Technology
Prv.se has been developed in accordance with the standards recommended by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). We have developed our website to comply with the requirements imposed concerning accessibility for the disabled, partly with the aid of Cascading Style Sheets (CSS).

Web browsers
Prv.se is designed to work equally well in more recent versions of all web browsers.
When you print, only the information in the middle of the page will be printed out, i.e. the textual content. A special style template is used to automatically make all pages printerfriendly.
Browsealoud
Browsealoud makes prv.se accessible to the large group of people who have difficulty reading. Browsealoud is a tool which reads out websites and PDF files, saves speech that is read out as an MP3 file and highlights the text that is being read out. Browsealoud is free to the user.
Scripts
Prv.se contains a number of scripts which are, for example, used to open certain types of links in a separate window. None of the scripts used are critical to the functioning of the website from an information perspective. However, PRV's services are dependent on scripts in order to work.
Services online
PRV's services online are dependent on JavaScript. This option must be enabled in your web browser in order for you to be able to use our services online.
Search services and databases
PRV updates its search services and databases wherever possible, but accepts no liability for the consequences of any errors or global delays.
Tips for using the website
- Text size
At prv.se, you can change the text size to suit your needs. You can
do this in your web browser under View > Text size. You can also use
scroll or the mouse wheel + Ctrl. - Quick links
There are hidden quick links to the text content and the right-hand menu. These are read by a speech synthesis program early in the document and enable the user to jump to the content concerned directly. - Keyboard shortcuts
Using the Alt key (Control key for Macintosh) plus the assigned key, you can activate a number of keyboard shortcuts. We currently have Alt+1 for the start page and Alt+4 for searching. - Alt texts
Otherwise, most elements, such as text, links and images, have Alt
texts which make it easier for speech synthesis programs to
understand and mediate the content correctly.
