About the Listen functionality with ReadSpeaker
With ReadSpeaker webReader, you can have a webpage read aloud with a single click. The service enhances the accessibility of the content on prv.se. The text is read out loud and simultaneously highlighted, allowing you to easily follow along, regardless of device or location. As a user, you don't need to download any software, and the service is free of charge.
How Does It Work?
ReadSpeaker webReader allows you to:
- Highlight text and click the Listen button in the pop-up menu that appears to have the highlighted text read aloud.
- Click on a paragraph of text to have it read aloud automatically.
- View a clutter-free version of the webpage with text in your preferred font, size, and color while it is read aloud and highlighted.
- Download an audio version of your content for offline listening.
- Translate highlighted text into several different languages and have the text read aloud in the selected language.
- Adjust reading speed, text highlighting color, and more.
- Use the text magnifier tool, which displays the currently read sentence enlarged at the bottom of the screen.
- Highlight a word and find its definition in the dictionary.
Clear instructions on how to use each feature are available in the help tool, accessible via the menu. Explore the help tool for ideas on how to optimize your use of webReader.
Keyboard Navigation
WebReader can be activated, meaning focus can be set on the Listen button, using the keyboard shortcut "K." The shortcut "L" sets focus on the player and starts the reading. Many of webReader's tools and features also have dedicated keyboard shortcuts. These shortcuts are activated with various modifier keys depending on your browser and operating system.
Within the player and menu, if the player is in focus, you can use tab/shift+tab to navigate and the Enter or Space key to activate a specific button or option. The ESC key can be used to stop the current action, close the menu, or exit a dialog box, depending on the context.
