Deferral (formal notice)

For formal notices that have a three-month time limit for reply, we cannot grant a deferral. We can extend formal notices with a one-month time limit to three months if you have paid your application fee and make a request for a deferral within the time limit, i.e., within one month.

Deferral (technical notice)

For technical notices with a four-month time limit for reply, we can extend the time limit to six months unless there are specific reasons for a different deadline.

Deferral in other cases

If there are special reasons, we can also grant a two-month deferral in cases of supplementary protection, patent restriction, patent revocation or patent opposition.
